Pretty in pink

Yes, they are actually way out of season these pictures, certainly for this part of the world, but I've just been clearing up my photo files and came across this choosy mama birdie. She's sat on a chair on our terrasse (right outside the garden door) picking pink wool from a blanket left out for our cats! She probably got tired of the same old brown nests and wanted to go for pink this year :-) She and her mate (or maybe it's the other way around?) came back early each morning for a few weeks, and I would just have loved to have seen what that nest looked like in the end!! It sure must have looked real pretty.
